Out of Nowhere

My children actually wanted to be suitcases so they could go off around the world and experience all of those wonderful things. They were so excited they couldn’t stop talking about it when they came back to the classroom.

Parents came up to me this morning and wanted to know what were the suitcase tags because their children wanted to take pictures of their suitcases and they wanted to send them to you.

I thought it was absolutely amazing and our children thought it was amazing too. Every teacher that has come into the staff room today has said did you see it? Wasn’t it wonderful? We’ve got to have it back next year!

I’ve got an EAL child who doesn’t speak any English and he was so engaged in it because it was so visual. The children who have difficulties with their attention spans had no problems at all, they were all very engaged with it.

The suitcase labels; all they wanted to do is fill it in and fill their own suitcase. It would be great for literacy, adjectives, making our own stories.

They’ve not seen anything like this most of them. Especicially from areas which ate traditionally quite poor. They don’t get the chance to go to the theatre and so they don’t see anything like this.

Fantastic, funny, lively! I really enjoyed it and the children haven’t stopped talking about it. It was great that you had complete control over the children at all times. They were able to talk and engage but you had their full attention.

The 3 and 4 year olds in my class were engaged throughout the performance. They loved the performers walking through them and being interactive with the leaves, snakes, bubbles and sand.

We are learning about senses and super senses in year 1 and it linked perfectly. The script and performance delivery was in line with the audience’s age. The practical and tactile elements left lasting impressions –falling leaves, stories in the sand and the bubble bath.

It links to sensory learning, valuable learning through listening, being able to make predications and appreciate the performance. The show prompted discussions enabling the children to build social skills.

The performance was fab! It was set at a good pace that kept the children engaged and focused and the children were able to relate the contents of the suitcases to their own experiences.
